Enjoy a 17 Day Voyage to the remote, but beautiful island of St Helena in the South Atlantic. Be a part of the on going conservation taking place on the island with the guidance and support of the Kew Foundation, and witness some of natures most remarkable coastal and inland sights.

Day 1 10th June 2007 : Board the RMS St Helena at Walvis Bay Namibia and set sail for St Helena. On board you will enjoy fine cuisine, an excellent choice of wine and some good old fashioned entertainment provided by officers and crew. 

On board facilities include a full service dinning room, 2 bars, a gymnasium, swimming pool, theatre, shop and library. During the day the officers and crew arrange a timetable of events that you can either choose to take part in or simply spectate, from deck quoits  to ocean cricket each day will have something different to enjoy. Talks and film shows will also be organized by the Kew Guide and will give you a taste of things to come when you arrive in St Helena. Evening entertainment is also arranged to include pub style quizzes, a casino night and games. Again, the choice to join in or simply observe as the humour unfolds is entirely yours.                                       


Day 5 14th June 2007:  Arrive St Helena. A warm welcome awaits as you step ashore witnessing the excitement of the Saints (as they are known) greeting family and friends home, some for the fist time in many years.
Over the next 8 nights you will enjoy the charm of the island, and discover many of the endemic species that are being studied and how the conservation project of the island is helping to preserve many endangered plants. Most of the endemic species of plants are found in the central; parks, the highest rising almost 3,000 feet, the whole area now a National Park. As well as the fauna and flora, the island boasts some of the most extraordinary marine life any where in the world with a resident pod of up to 200 dolphins.

Local experts will be on hand to give you first hand knowledge of the island as well as Kew interpretive guides to give you detailed information about the plants and the on going. Tours will include scenic trips of the island, a private tour of Longwood House, Napoleon's residence during his exile on the island, a boat tour to discover the beauty of the offshore islands and abundance of marine life as well as a number of optional walks and hikes arranged with the National Trust of St Helena and the Conservation Office. Other optional tours will be available locally during the stay on the island.


Day 13  22nd June 2007: We depart St Helena for the return sailing to Walvis Bay

Day 17 26th June 2007: Arrive Walvis Bay - End of Tour

Accommodation on the island.
Accommodation on the island is arranged at the Consulate Hotel. This 18thy Century colonial building is located in the heart of Jamestown and is just a few minutes walk from the waterfront. The hotel has a dinning room and bar and all bedrooms are comfortably furnished and all have en suite facilities
