New schedule connects remotest islands

Have you a hidden desire to visit the remotest island in the world?  Well, here's a chance to do so relaxing and in true comfort.

Andrew Weir Shipping - on behalf of St Helena Line Ltd - has just announced the brand new 12-month schedule for the Royal Mail Ship St Helena.  As well as including cruises from the UK and South Africa to tropical St Helena in the South Atlantic there is a special addition for this year - a Quincentenary Cruise to Tristan da Cunha - the remotest inhabited island in the world.

manreadingmap.jpgThe new season brochure incorporates a DVD and video featuring BBC presenter, Tim Wonnacott, enthusiastically talking about the RMS St Helena, and the island of St Helena, plus many travel opportunities en route.  In particular, the opportunity to explore Namibia via ports of call at Luderitz and Walvis Bay; and now presenting 4 x 4 enthusiasts with the opportunity to take their vehicles on the coastal voyage, so they can explore the Namibian desert in their own vehicles.

Voyages on board the RMS range from 8 to 46 days.  Travellers have the opportunity to mix and match and really create a schedule that suits them.  There are direct flights to and from neighbouring Ascension Island - home of the famous green turtles - also included.  So whether your passion is wildlife and nature; historical interests (St Helena was the home in exile of Napoleon); an enjoyment of outdoor life, walking and exploring or golf, there will be something in this brochure that will appeal.

You may just want to sit back and be taken somewhere just that little bit different and where few of your friends have been before. By visiting St Helena in the South Atlantic you may just have found the ideal destination.

For Press Editors:
RMS St Helena is a world away from the big cruise ships.  Carrying only 128 passengers and a working cargo passenger liner, the RMS provides excellent facilities with well-furnished en-suite cabins.  Passengers enjoy gourmet dining, relaxing in the lounges, bars, library, shop, sun deck and pool.

The RMS cruise offers a round trip of around 21 day starting from Cape Town in South Africa or the UK.  There is then a three-day cruise up the mainland African coast, calling at Luderitz and Walvis Bays.  From there the ship sails across to the tropical island of St Helena and then Ascension before her return voyage.  Flying to Cape Town, Walvis Bay or Ascension Island, thus presenting many fly/cruise options where you can join the ship for part or all of the voyage.
